My name is Emily Gakii Mbaya. I went to our lady of visitation boarding primary school then later finished my high school in muthambi girls in Chogoria. I later joined Jomo Kenyatta university of agriculture and technology and then African Nazarene university where am still working for ends to meet as i finish my course.I grew up on a humble background with two elder brothers (Bonnie and Vinny) and a cute sister (Olivia). we grew up with the support from our loving caring and committed parents who never seized to listen to our grievances and help us make the best decisions... i love my sweet family.
In life i have passed through UPs and DOWNs, heartbreaks, and many other discouraging incidences but all in all i have always learnt how to let it go and how to drop the heart buddens. With the support of my one and only mum and my sweet sister in law and a saying
"if you are depressed you are living in the past"
"if you are anxious you are living in the future"
"if you are at peace you are living in the present"
besides that i love praying, laughing, singing dancing and making fun of things and speaking the truth..my hobbies are reading and writting, playing TT, eating, walking, and shopping and for the record am an impulse buyer.
I love making new friends, and i have friends who help me out when am stressed up. They make me forget all the problems and worrys i got n it really helps
I am currently working with basic needs where we learn how to live, appreciate and embrace people with mental health condition. I was one of the poeple who thought that mental health condition is a terrible disease and knew that i should isolate those poeple because they are dangerous only to know that those are the poeple who need the best care and attention more than anyone else. Anyone can have a mental health condition and what i have learnt from the fellowship that i have now stayed for 6 weeks is that anybody can have a mental health condition or has a relative, neighbour or friend with a mental health condition.
People in life pass through many difficulties that lead them to mental health problems. domestic violence, rape cases, children abuse, drugs addictions and untold stories occur every day in day out and those poeple have no voices to speak.
For too long, mental health was the Cinderella service - unrecognised and unthanked. And when it came to young people, there was a double injustice, too - as child and adolescent services often received even less attention than adult services in political debate.
Of course, governments can save millions in the criminal justice, education and health systems, when mental health treats conditions early.
But much more important than any fiscal motive, improving mental health is simply the right thing to do.
Take good education - probably the best guarantee of future success.
If we don’t have a good mental health system - if we don’t have services that accurately identify who needs treatment, provides it, and then follows it up - then not only are we stunting the ambition of many young people. We are failing some of the most vulnerable people in society.
And that’s simply not acceptable. And this is what drives us: a sense of clarity about who stands to benefit if we get mental health right - or to look at it the other way, will suffer, if we don’t.
It’s why we believe mental health is essential, and that only full equality with physical health will do.My start over is embracing the light.Am sweating to fight for the people who pass through situations with mental health condition for them to see the light
through my poetry and writing I'll help and touch many people's hearts.
